In the age of social media, our display picture is the face that we present to the world. So naturally, most people would prefer to edit their display. Unfortunately, not all of us have the skills to edit these photos by ourselves. Thankfully, Pixlr-o-matic is here to save the day.

Installing this app is as easy as a pie. Simply go to the Google Chrome Web Store and search ‘pixlr-o-matic’. Select it and click ‘Add to Chrome’ to install the app. You can find the app on the ‘apps’ section of the home page. The app itself is quite easy to use. Pixlr-o-matic lets you get an impressively edited retro style picture in just 5 windows/steps. The first window lets you choose a picture. You can either upload one from your computer or take a snapshot using your web cam. The second window lets you choose a tint for your photograph. The next window lets you choose a snazzy effect while the last window lets you choose a frame for the picture. The final window allows you to save the photograph on your PC.

The app runs quite smoothly, without any framing issues. It’s very nice to see that the designers have added tiny details like ripples that are created when you move your mouse over the picture. Pixlr-o-matic is no match for a proper photo editing software. But it’s easy to pick up and renders possible effectively edited pictures in a professional manner, in just a few minutes. This aspect makes Pixlr-o-matic a great app to have for Facebook or Twitter addicts who like to put up a new and unique picture every few days.
