Offline Google Mail does exactly what the name says it does. It allows you to access your Gmail account when you are offline. Allowing you to read, reply to your emails, search them and archive them without the internet.
Installing the Offline Google Mail application is a piece of cake. Do a quick search for ‘Offline Google Mail’ and click on ‘Add to Chrome’. The Offline Google Mail icon will appear in the apps section in the home page. Click it to start Offline Google Mail, and give it a minute to sync with your Gmail account. The app interface is different from the regular Gmail interface, but all the necessary tools that you require are present. You are free to read your emails, and can also send mails. The mails are sent to the Outbox first and are sent as soon as an Internet connection is available.
The app is quite useful for people who are constantly on the go and for places where the Internet connection is unreliable. The unique interface may seem a bit confusing at first, due to the different layout of buttons, but it is quite easy to pick up. The app itself works perfectly. All mails are queued up when there is no Internet access and are sent as soon a connection is established. The same goes for incoming mails and for other functions of Google mail.
Unfortunately, those wishing to use this app to access their account just the way they can with Gmail, might be disappointed. There is no support for Google Talk and you cannot change the settings. This means that you are still dependent on Gmail for most of the actions. Offline Google mail is an application that does just what it is supposed to do – nothing more, nothing less.
