Firebug is an excellent and indispensible tool for web developers around the world. It allows web designers to inspect and edit HTML and perfect CSS. They can even use it to admire and learn from the code from other websites. Firebug Lit isn’t supposed to be used as a substitute for Firebug; rather it is designed to be used with it.
To install firebug, go to the Google Chrome Webstore and search for it. Then click on ‘Add to Chrome’ to install it. Once it has been installed, you can view the code of any page by simply clicking on the Firebug icon next to the ‘wrench’ icon. After you activate firebug, a new window will pop up below the screen that will give you the details of the page which you are viewing. There will be 5 different tabs for you to choose.
The HTML lets you look at the HTML of whatever you are looking at, allowing you to experiment with the changes before saving them. It exposes the entire mark-up of the site, letting you tinker with the details. The CSS lets you change and compare the CSS in the same way as HTML. Web designers can make subtle or obvious changes to the layout and colours without worrying about changing the code of your web server. You can also learn more about your favourite webpage this way. The script tab lets you see the java script of you webpage, allowing you to pinpoint exactly how the code is being executed and to pinpoint all the hard to find errors. Firebug is the premier web development tool thanks to its ease of use and its flexibility. It is a must have for any web designer.
